A separate program is the Certified Behavioral Health Technician (CBHT) training which allows BHT’s to meet the Florida Certification Board classroom requirements of 30 hours for certification. This elevates company BHT’s to a professional level and teaches skills to prepare them to assist clinical staff in working with aggressive clients, mental health issues, cultural diversities and other pertinent topics. The training can be provided to your facility privately for ten or more techs, and will be scheduled according to the facilities’ specific needs. Twice annually, the class is also offered in West Palm Beach for a combined group of techs from many different facilities.
The Certified Behavioral Health Tech Training teaches techs working in substance use programs, mental health facilities, and hospitals the necessary tools to provide professional, ethical, and effective support for the medical and/or clinical staff while enhancing their personal growth. The classroom hours include a variety of topics such as co-occurring disorders so the tech can relate their professional observations of clients to the necessary staff to work on the potential issues arising. Other topics include understanding of the overall field of addiction and mental health, communication skills, de-escalation techniques, cultural diversity, and signs of potential suicidal ideations.
Our thirty hour training program completes all necessary training elements of the Florida Certification Board’s CBHT certification process. The additional requirements are listed below. An overview of how to obtain all requirements will be addressed extensively through the training so each participant can be assured they have a clear understanding of the requirements to obtain certification upon completion of the training.
